Unlike previous years, the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters Foundation’s grantmaking for 2016-17 was not an open grant application process.  The Board of Directors decided to give $400,000 to local non-profit agencies which are providing services to the Peninsula Community.

  • A $100,000 grant was awarded to the Center for Child & Family Services to purchase house(s) for the participants in the LAUNCH Program.  The Foundation awarded the initial funding for LAUNCH  and awarded a second grant the following year.
  • $25,000 was designated for Ongoing Education,
  • $100,000 is being retained to assist with funding some local need/endeavor.

$24,000 was awarded to Mary Immaculate Hospital to support its Mission of “Being Good Help to Those in Need,” especially the poor on the Peninsula.

$132,000 was awarded to the Bernardine Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis (Bernardine Franciscan Sisters) to further its mission and ministries both in the USA, Brazil, Africa and the Dominican Republic.
